The Royal Company of Archers, established in 1822 during the reign of King George IV, holds the prestigious role of serving as the Sovereign's Bodyguard in Scotland. This ceremonial unit has a long-standing history of providing personal protection to the monarch during royal visits to Scotland, showcasing their dedication and loyalty.

It is currently known as the King's Bodyguard For Scotland, and is located in Edinburgh, the capital city. The Royal Company of Archers has a long history in Scotland as a body that celebrated both the recreation and talent of local archers.

The officers' dress rank is indicated by two or, in the case of the captain, three, golden eagle feathers being worn in the bonnet.
