Scottish 18th Century Style Brass Cantle Bullseye Sporran
Scottish 18th Century Style Brass Cantle Bullseye Sporran
We have hand crafted this 18th century style sporran for clients using a antique pattern brass cantle with hand turned finials ( not hinged pattern ). The cantles are all hand crafted by our regimental silversmith in solid brass from an antique cantle pattern.
The antiqued leathers for the classic pouch are hand aged in our studio to start building up a patina of age. The cantles are attached using a classic lacing technique.
Cantle width approx. 16 1/2 cm = 6.4” x 10 1/2 cm = 4 1/4”
Full size approx. 10” x 6 1/2”

A Sporran is a pouch (Scottish Gaelic for ‘purse’). Now a decorative part of Highland dress, it was originally an everyday practical item. Made of leather or fur, it usually has more or less elaborate silver or other ornamentation, especially on the clasp or hanger. It is worn on a chain or belt around the waist, allowing the sporran to lie below the waist of the person wearing a kilt.
